Stoke City boss, Mark Hughes says the club allowed Nigeria forward, Peter Odemwingie leave for Bristol City on loan because they could not offer him first team football, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
The 34- year old who has made eight appearances for the Potters in all competitions this season joined Championship side, Bristol, on Friday.
Odemwingie is in line to make his debut for his new side who are currently 20th on the Championship table against Fulham on Saturday at the Craven Cottage.
"He was as far away from the first 11 as he had been for some time and opportunities here from now until the end of the season would be few and far between," Hughes told the club's official website.
"We let him go because we couldn't give him the opportunities he felt his talent deserved and I was in agreement with that.
"It is not easy to keep senior players happy and if you can't even get them on the pitch and they sat in the stands it becomes more of a problem.
"But if you have the opportunity to get good players in you have to get them into your team.
"At some point there will be good players in their own right who will have to leave to make room for players coming in."
