Nigerian pair Victor Moses and Emmanuel Emenike were second half substitutes but could not save West Ham as Manchester United qualified for the semi-finals of the Emirates FA Cup with a 2-1 win in their replay at Upton Park on Wednesday.
Goals from Marcus Rashford and Maroune Fellaini secured the win for United.
West Ham’s goal was scored by James Tomkins.
They join Crystal Palace, Watford and Everton in the semis which will be played inside the Wembley Stadium.
United will face Everton, while Watford will play Crystal Palace.
West Ham came close to scoring in the second minute through Enner Valencia cross but Michael Carrick cleared away for a corner.
In the fifth minute, Valencia had a good chance following a pass from Manuel Lanzini but shot straight at David De Gea.
Four minutes later, De Gea stopped a Dimitri Payet’s free-kick which was heading into the near post.
Rashford had a chance in the 14th minute but his strike was blocked off by Angelo Ogbonna for a corner-kick.
In the 18th minute Darren Randolf parried Maroune Fellaini’s shot over for a corner.
Rashford made a brilliant run inside West Ham’s 18-yard box only for his left-foot shot to be blocked by James Tomkins.
Lanzini pounced on a loose ball inside Manchester United’s area from a Payet’s free-kick on 27 minutes but his effort went wide.
In the 31st minute Valencia met a quick pass from Andy Carroll only to hit a weak left shot which didn’t trouble De Gea.
Lingard had a very good chance on 35 minutes after a brilliant run from Rashford but Randolf blocked his goal-bound shot with his straying left leg.
Carrick hit a left-foot shot in the 41st minute which narrowly missed the target.
In the second half, United were in the front foot and came close through Lingard on 49 minutes but his shot flew inches wide.
Cheihkou kouyate tried a loing range shot which was well saved by De Gea.
Rashford finally made United’s early pressure pay off in the 54th minute, finding the top right corner with a fine curler.
In the 62nd minute Victor Moses replaced Valencia.
Fellaini made it 2-0 on 67 minutes after he pounced on Martial’s shot.
West Ham made their second change with Emenike replacing Lanzini.
Emenike was in the thick of things and almost halved the deficit on 77 minutes but his header went wide.
De Gea made a very good save with his left leg, clearing away Antonio’s header.
West Ham made it 2-1 in the 79th minute through Tomkins, heading in Carroll’s knock down from a Payet’s corner.
In the 88th minute Carroll came very close to making it 2-2 but his header off Cresswell’s cross went just over the bar.
Kouyate had the ball in the net after his initial shot was saved by De Gea only for it to be ruled off for offside.
West Ham had a free-kick close to United’s area after Payet was fouled but his free-kick hit the wall and went over the bar.
